Where will we begin?
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
WHY ARE WE VIOLENT TO OURSELVES?
I am kind, compassionate, and non-shaming. I bring my whole self and lust for life to my sessions. That means I want to build strong relational bonds with my clients. So I'm real with you and not afraid to be moved emotionally by you and your wounds and dreams. I'm also not afraid to share my story, weaknesses, and pain when appropriate.
I am a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT) and I also hold a Level 3 Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) credential. I have completed PRATI's training in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. Before founding Cottonwood Counseling Center in 2008, I was a Flight RN, E.R., and I.C.U. nurse. I have a passion for combining the most empirically validated modes of therapy with unrelenting compassion, acceptance, and love, to foster my client's growth.
I live with my wife of thirty seven years, and our beautiful adult son Sean. I am blessed that Hillary, my daughter, and her wife Steph live here in Lafayette. I enjoy ultra running (I recently ran across the Atacama desert in Chile), fast-packing and spending time with my family and friends. My Boston Terrier "Scout" and I are inseparable. No, really we are.
Cottonwood was founded by Patrick Prag in 2008. It was birthed from Patrick's experience in the caring professions which centered on trauma and flight nursing in Denver, Colorado. The physical and emotional trauma of these years was at first invisible. Eventually, Patrick realized that he and his colleagues carried the trauma within themselves.
Cottonwood's passion is directed from Patrick's experiences and training to help individuals, couples, and families live productive, healthy, and emotionally fulfilling lives. And that is not easy in the midst of the difficult challenges and sometimes traumatic world we live in.
